Shillong, Jun 21: The Meghalaya government is planning to establish a Film City and a Film Institute in Shillong besides a music institute in Tura to strengthen the creative ecosystem in the State.
This was informed by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma while addressing the inaugural Hello Meghalaya Music Award ceremony in Shillong.
“We want want Meghalaya to become a recognised hub for music, filmmaking and the entire creative economy,” Sangma said.
The Hello Meghalaya Music Awards celebrated excellence among artists, musicians, creators and music videos featured on the Hello Meghalaya platform between April 2025 and March 2026.

16 artists received the award under different categories including Folk, Pop, Hip Hop/Rap, Gospel, Original Soundtrack, Independent Artist of the Year, Best Female Artist, Best Male Artist, Song of the Year and many more.
Reble who has gained recognition for her songs in the Bollywood film ‘Dhurandhar’ bagged the ‘Icon of the Year’ Award.
Eastern Brook, a band composed of visually impaired musicians, won the ‘Best Inspirational Song’ Award for their song ‘Echoes of Unity’.
