Laitlyngkot-Pynursla Road Closed For Traffic

Shillong, Jun 21: Authorities of East Khasi Hills District have announced temporary closure of the road from Laitlyngkot to Pynursla with effect from today.

The announcement was made by Deputy Commissioner Abhilash Baranwal today following a major landslide at Chainage 25+200 of the road ahead of Laitlyngkot village.

Due to the landslide, the road totally caved in and cut off the major traffic link to Lyngkyrdem, Pynursla, Mawlynnong, Wahkhen, Umñiuh, Nongjri and other villages in Ri-War Mihngi area.

Baranwal also advised people and tourists travelling to and from the area to take alternative routes.

The two alternative routes are the Sohra – Sohbar – Dawki Road and the Jowai – Amlarem – Dawki Road.

The National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL) has stated that efforts are on for repair and restoration of the affected road.
