Shillong, April 21: The Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills has sounded an alert in the district in the wake of the ongoing measles outbreak in Bangladesh and the heightened risk in the border areas of the district.
In a statement issued today, the DC directed that fever with rash cases should be reported immediately to the authorities.
The School Education Department and ICDS have been asked to immediately report all suspected cases identified in schools and Anganwadi centres to the nearest hospital, dispensary, nurse or doctor.
“Any child suspected of measles should be strictly restricted from attending school or Anganwadi centre until complete recovery. The child should be advised to remain isolated at home with minimal contact to prevent further transmission,” the DC said.
Further, teachers and Anganwadi workers have been directed to be properly sensitised in order to identify symptoms of fever with rash and to promptly report such cases to the authorities. They also have to maintain daily vigilance for early identification of suspected cases.
