Kharkrang, Sanbor, Hek sure of BJP’s “double digit” in Meghalaya in 2028

Shillong, May 4: Enthused by the BJP’s win in West Bengal and its return to power in Assam, party workers in Meghalaya took these two wins outside the State as a signal that their party would grab power in Meghalaya in 2028.

Although BJP now has only two MLAs in Meghalaya, both of whom won mostly on their own personal popularity, the party felt that it would improve its number to “double digit” in 2028.

State BJP spokesman Marïahom Kharkrang was sure that his party was on the road to electoral sweep when the 2028 Assembly elections were held.

“Mark my words. In 2028 you will see the BJP in double digit,” Kharkrang said.

While Kharkrang did not mention how many seats the saffron party would win, he stuck to his “double digit” comment.

“I’ll not comment on other parties but you will see us in double digit,” he said.

Cabinet minister Sanbor Shullai was even more confident whe he said that BJP would form the government in Meghalaya in 2028.

“The people be it in urban or rural areas have started accepting the good works of Narendra Modi. That’s why we are winning and we’ll form the government in 2028,” Shullai said.

Even party MLA Alexander L. Hek agreed with Shullai.

“The BJP started with just two seats in Lok Sabha. Now the party has more than 200 MPs. That also is the trend in Meghalaya. We are going to lead the government in the State in 2028,” Hek said.

He also said that BJP would fight the next Assembly elections on its own and would have no pre-poll alliance with any party.
