Nearly 100 people lost their lives after a powerful storm accompanied by heavy rain and strong winds swept across several parts of Uttar Pradesh on May 13, 2026, according to reports by NDTV.
The extreme weather caused widespread destruction across the state, uprooting trees, damaging electric poles, and destroying several houses. In one shocking video that went viral on social media, a man was reportedly swept away by the force of the storm at Harangabad Pathan, highlighting the intensity of the natural calamity.

Prayagraj was the worst-affected district with 21 reported deaths, followed by 18 in Bhadohi, 10 in Mirzapur, 8 each in Pratapgarh and Bareilly, and 4 each in Sitapur and Chandauli. Reports also confirmed two deaths each in Kanpur Dehat, Hardoi, and Sambhal, besides casualties in other parts of the state.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed condolences to the bereaved families and directed officials to provide financial assistance to the victims within 24 hours.
