Nonglang’s Condition Worsens, Fast To Continue

Shillong, April 14: Green Tech Foundation chairman Bansiewdor Nonglang has refused the advice of doctors to shift him to hospital and said he would continue his indefinite fast.

A team of government doctors accompanied by a magistrate visited Nonglang at Malki Ground where he is staging his protest.

As his health condition is deteriorating, doctors advised for transferring him to a hospital. However, Nonglang and members of Green Tech Foundation flatly rejected the advice.

They also stated that the hunger strike would continue till the State government concede to the demand for scrapping of the agreement for alloting Lumpongdeng Island at Umïam Lake to Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) for its proposed resort and spa facilities.

Earlier today, VPP candidate for the Lok Sabha by-election from Shillong seat, Batskhem Myrboh visited Nonglang at the protest site as a token of support to the demand. A delegation of VPP Youth Wing members also paid a visit to the protest venue to express solidarity with Green Tech Foundation’s demand.
