Car Loses Control, Plunges Into Gorge in Ri Bhoi District

Nongpoh, May 10: Five occupants of a Tata Altroz including the driver escaped unhurt after the vehicle plunged into a deep gorge at 17th Mile in Ri-Bhoi District.

The car bearing registration number AS-01-FF-8936 was proceeding from Shillong towards Guwahati when the driver lost control while negotiating a curve and plunged into the gorge. The incident occured at around 4 PM.

The driver was identified as Nawaz Ahmed Chaudhury while the other occupants include Tauhid Laskar (25), Goma Poon (24), Nikita Pradhan (22) and Sneha Tamang (21). All of them are from Assam.

On receipt of information about the incident, personnel from Byrnihat Police Station rushed to the spot and found all the occupants of the car unhurt.

The car which was partially damaged was towed and brought to Byrnihat Police Station. Investigation is on into the incident.
