Shillong, Oct 1: The final electoral roll of Meghalaya will be published on October 26 following the decision of the Election Commission to extend the timeline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electors in the State.
According to State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) B D R Tiwari, Meghalaya reported 93.13 per cent completion of notice cases and roll out of doorstep facilitation of voters.
Stating that the Election Commission has shifted to a voter-friendly approach for electors flagged during the SIR process, Tiwari said that now Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit homes of electors who have been issued notice for No Mapping or logical discrepancies and will collect all the required documents and upload them on ECINet so that the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) could decide.
“Electors will not have to appear before the office of the ERO or Assistant ERO. Hearing for electors will be required only in exceptional cases as decided by the ERO and will be preferably online. An elector can authorise any adult family member to attend on his or her behalf,” Tiwari said.

District Election Officers have been asked to set up Help Desks and Special Camps for those living in night shelters, labourers, homeless and economically disadvantaged persons.
Tiwari also informed that of the 21,69,243 electors in the draft electoral roll, notices have been issued to 6,51,735. These include 2,22,786 under No Mapping and 4,28,949 for mapping discrepancies.
“As on October 1, 2026, we have completed 16,06,939 cases. 1194 electors have been found ineligible after due process while 19,71,723 have been parked for final publication,” he added.
Tiwari also said that 23,259 forms have been digitised. He also urged electors who received notices to cooperate with the BLOs and check their names once the final electoral roll is published.
