Shillong, Sep 23: With the joining of eight UDP MLAs from Meghalaya into the BJP, the saffron party has made another political history as it will also have representation in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).
Two of the BJP entrants are sitting members of the KHADC while one sitting UDP MDC is bound to shift to the BJP since his brother has made the move.
Pius Marweiñ who is the MLA from Ranikor is also the MDC from the constituency.
Sohïong MLA, Synshar Lyngdoh Thabah is also the sitting MDC from Nongspung-Sohïong MDC Constituency.
Bari Kupar Synrem, the UDP MDC from Shella Constituency is likely to join the BJP since his brother and sitting MLA, Balajied Kupar Synrem has now switched over to the BJP.

BJP has contested the District Council elections in Khasi and Jaiñtia Hills many times in the past but it could not succeed.
This time, its entry into the KHADC is by fluke. It is therefore the first time in the political history of KHADC that BJP would have representatives in the council.
