Shillong, Jul 26: It looks like the narratives of the the upcoming Lok Sabha by-election from Shillong seat is concentrated between two political parties – the ruling NPP and the opposition VPP.
Both parties which have fielded their respective candidates are castigating each other at every forum in the run up to the by-poll, the date of which is yet to be announce by the Election Commission.
NPP national vice president and Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar who campaigned for party candidate D R L Nonglait at Nongtalang village under Amlarem Constituency in West Jaiñtia Hills District yesterday cautioned people against being “misled by new political entrants”.

“Please don’t be misled. A new political party comes like a storm. It claims to love the people and the people fell for it and voted for that party. Sadly, after the election is over, people get nothing,” Dhar said, apparently targetting the VPP.
He also said that NPP has worked hard for the interest and welfare of the people of the State.
“Leaders who truly love the people worked hard for the people whereas those who went to the street claiming to love the people are busy with staging protests. If protests can get you development, then what is the use of having a Legislative Assembly. There’s no need for Assembly any more, just keep shouting and protesting on the streets,” Dhar said.
Terming Amlarem constituency as one of the “most educated constituencies” in Jaiñtia Hills region, Dhar appealed to the people to vote for Nonglait in the by-poll.
“He (Nonglait) will be the voice of the people of the State when he gets elected,” Dhar said while listing out the developmental activities and projects carried out by the NPP-led government in the State.
