Shillong, Aug 23: The Meghalaya Police has set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) Davis N R Marak to probe the arson, vandalism and assaults that occured during the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) bike rally in Shillong on August 19.
According to the order issued by the Police Department, the SIT will work to identify and nab all those involved in the violence including masked individuals, and those who used two-wheelers with covered or obscured number plates.

The SIT will also examine the role of the organisers of the bike rally especially violation of the conditions on which the permission for the rally was granted.
The other members of the SIT include Deputy Inspector General (Eastern Range) Sylvester Nongtnger, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem, Superintendent of Police (Cyber) Dheeraj Yadav and Deputy Superintendent of Police (Crime) Bipul Das.
