Shillong, Aug 23: Tourist taxi associations from Meghalaya have withdrawn their blockade of Assam passenger vehicles.
The decision was taken today during a meeting convened by Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar at the State secretariat in Shillong.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the government including those from the police, leaders of All Khasi Meghalaya Tourist Taxi Association (AKMTTA), Shillong Tourist Taxi Association and other taxi associations.
Earlier yesterday, Ri-Bhoi Deputy Commissioner, Abhishek Saini has issued an order prohibiting all sorts of obstruction of Assam vehicles from entering Meghalaya through Ri-Bhoi District.

The order issued under Section 163 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) will remain in force for 60 days unless withdrawn or modified earlier.
It may be recalled that Assam tourist taxi associations have withdrawn their blockade of Meghalaya vehicles at Jorabad following a meeting with Assam cabinet minister Atul Bora yesterday.
Meanwhile, Dhar during today’s meeting with the Meghalaya tourist taxi associations assured to address the problems faced by the State’s tourist taxi operators while entering Assam.
He said that he would convene a meeting with the Commissioners of Transport of both the states by September 10 to address the concerns.
