Shillong, March 20: A two-day National Seminar on “Recent Advancements in Ayurveda and Homoeopathy” was successfully organized on March 19 and 20, 2026 at North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda & Homoeopathy, Shillong, an institute under the Ministry of AYUSH. The seminar was organised with a motto to integrate both system.
The seminar witnessed participation from around 600 delegates, including academicians, researchers, scholars, and practitioners from various parts of the country. The event provided a valuable platform for the exchange of knowledge and recent developments in the fields of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy.
The programme commenced on March 19 with an inaugural function in the august presence of Dr.Kousthubha Upadhyaya, Advisor (Ayurveda), Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India; Prof.Sumarbin Umdor, Pro-Vice Chancellor, North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, Prof. (Dr). P.K Goswami, Dean, Faculty of Ayurveda, IMS, BHU, Varanasi, Prof.Dr.Dr.Subhash Kaushik, Director General, Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH),(Dr). Vijay Kumar, Director, North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda & Homoeopathy (NEIAH), Shillong. The dignitaries, in their inaugural addresses, emphasized the growing relevance of traditional systems of medicine and the importance of scientific validation and research.
Following the inauguration, Planery session was conducted where eminent Resource persons from various parts of the country delivered their expertise and experience, along with its parallel scientific sessions in Ayurveda and Homoeopathy were conducted, these sessions included oral (PowerPoint) and poster presentations under various sub-themes, highlighting important principles, clinical applications, and recent research advancements in both streams. Eminent personalities from Ayurveda and Homoeopathy delivered their expert insights during these sessions.
The first day concluded with a cultural programme for the participants, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the region.
The second day, March 20, commenced with further scientific sessions and academic deliberations. The programme concluded with a valedictory session, where Dr.Kousthubha Upadhyaya, Advisor (Ayurveda), Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India; Prof.Sumarbin Umdor, Pro-Vice Chancellor, North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, Prof. (Dr). P.K Goswami, Dean, Faculty of Ayurveda, IMS, BHU, Varanasi, Prof.Dr.Dr.Subhash Kaushik, Director General, Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH),Dr.Pralay Sharma ,Director, National Institute of Homoeopathy (NIH),Kolkata, (Dr). Vijay Kumar, Director, North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda & Homoeopathy (NEIAH), Shillong graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, along with other dignitaries representing both the field.
The seminar concluded successfully with active participation and meaningful deliberations, marking a significant step towards the advancement and integration of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy at the national level.
