Byrnihat Police Intensify Traffic Checks Along NH-6

Nongpoh, September 15: The Byrnihat Police Station on Tuesday evening conducted a vehicle-checking drive along National Highway-6 in Ri Bhoi district to curb traffic violations and promote road safety among commuters.

The checking was conducted near the Byrnihat Police Station, with police personnel inspecting vehicles travelling in both directions along the highway.

The drive covered both heavy vehicles and two-wheelers, with police checking for violations including drunk driving, riding without helmets, failure to wear seat belts, overspeeding and failure to carry the required vehicle documents.

The police said the exercise was also aimed at educating drivers on the importance of strictly adhering to traffic regulations to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of motorists and other road users.

The Byrnihat Police said such vehicle-checking drives would continue regularly along the highway. Drivers found violating traffic rules would face penalties in accordance with applicable traffic regulations and the Motor Vehicles Act.
