Nongpoh, November 16: The 9th  Inter-Collegiate Youth Festival-cum-Games & Sports Meet 2025 of Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal commenced on November 15 with great enthusiasm at the College of Post-Graduate Studies in Agricultural Sciences (CPGS-AS), Umiam. This three day Youth Fest cum Sports and Games Meet was organized under the leadership of Dr. Anupam Mishra, Vice Chancellor, CAU, Imphal from November 15 to Novermber 17, 2025 at CPGAS, Umiam.

The inaugural session of the event witnessed the participation of students, faculty, and officials from across all the 13 constituent CAU campuses, marking the beginning of a vibrant celebration of youth talent, sportsmanship, and cultural unity. A grand and disciplined march past was performed by the contingents of participating colleges, showcasing their zeal and team spirit.

The programme officially started by lighting of the lamp, followed by welcome address delivered by Dr. Dwipendra Thakuria, Dean of CPGS-AS, Umiam. He extended warm greetings to all participating teams and dignitaries and expressed pride in hosting the youth fest and reaffirmed the college’s dedication to providing an enriching academic and cultural environment.

The event was graced by the presence of Chief guest Dr. Arun Kumar Sarma (Director General, NECTAR, DST, Govt. of India), who highlighted the importance of extra-curricular platforms in shaping well-rounded agricultural professionals. Further, Prof. Indira Sarangthem (Director of Instruction, CAU Imphal), Padmashree Smt. Trinity Saio, Meghalaya, Dr. Puranjan Das (Former DDG, Agri. Extension, ICAR, New Delhi), Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh (Hon’ble VC, RLBAU, Jhansi) also graced the program as guests of honour.

During inaugural, presidential address was given by Dr. Anupam Mishra, Vice Chancellor, CAU, Imphal. He emphasized that youth festivals play a vital role in fostering confidence, teamwork, leadership, and cultural appreciation among students. He encouraged the participants to compete with sincerity and to build bonds that transcend institutional boundaries.

This year’s 9th  Inter-Collegiate Youth Festival-cum-Games & Sports Meet will feature a wide range of events, including athletics, indoor and outdoor sports, literary competitions, fine arts, performing arts, and cultural competitions. In addition to this, this youth fest will also witness motivational speech, lecture on mental well being, Thinkathon, Business meet, Happiness fair and talk on integrating AI and LLMs in education and research.

The platform aims to encourage healthy rivalry while promoting unity among the constituent colleges of CAU. The inaugural program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Pranab Dutta (Chairman, SCP, CPGS-AS), who acknowledged all the delegates, faculties and students for their presence.
