HID Foundation seeks inclusion of Khasi in CBSE syllabus

Shillong, April 27: The HID Foundation has urged the Meghalaya government especially Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to take up with the Central Board of School Education (CBSE) and the Education Ministry for inclusion of Khasi subject in the syllabus of the CBSE.

“After the State government recently declared Khasi and Garo as the official State languages in Meghalaya, it is incumbent upon the government to press for inclusion of Khasi as one of the subjects in CBSE for the benefit of our students, otherwise there is no meaning of Khasi being the official language,” the HID Foundation said.

It also requested the State government to seriously pursue with the Central government for inclusion of Khasi in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution of India.
