Shillong, Sep 9: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma yesterday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi.
Sangma did not mention about the agenda of discussion of his meeting with Shah except posting photos of the meeting on social media platform X.
The meeting between Sangma and Shah has raised a lot of speculations given the media reports about the possible joining of nine UDP MLAs to the BJP.
The nine MLAs had met Shah recently in New Delhi in the presence of BJP leader Sambit Patra.

If the nine UDP legislators join the BJP, the regional party from Meghalaya would be left with only three MLAs in the State. The BJP which now has only two MLAs would see its strength increased to eleven MLAs.
Further, if the nine UDP join the BJP, it would alter the composition of the MDA government in Meghalaya as the saffron party may seek more ministerial berths.
However, things are still unclear since all the nine UDP MLAs remained tightlipped about the political developments with none of them denying the media reports about their plans to join the BJP.
