SHILLONG, NOV 4: Meghalaya BJP president Rikman Momin said the party would soon convene a meeting with its eight newly inducted MLAs to discuss whether there is a need to seek additional ministerial berths in the state government.
His statement comes a day after former UDP MLA Paul Lyngdoh, who recently joined the NPP, was inducted into the Cabinet led by Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma.
Rikman said the BJP welcomed the Chief Minister’s decision to induct another NPP legislator into the Cabinet.
“It is perfectly fine. We have accepted whatever decision the Chief Minister has taken. So far, we have not held a meeting with our MLAs. After meeting them, I will be able to tell you whether we need to demand more ministerial berths,” Rikman said.
