Shillong, Jul 21: The Supreme Court today gave husband murder accused Sonam Raghuvanshi two options regarding her bail, one of which is to surrender.
The bench of Justice M M Sundresh and Justice P B Varale today took up the Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by the Meghalaya government challenging the order of the Meghalaya High Court that upheld the bail granted to Sonam.
In its oral observations, the Supreme Court bench gave two choices to Sonam – surrender or get the bail cancelled.

The bench suggested that if Sonam surrenders while the trial court examines the witnesses in the murder case, it would direct the trial court to speed up the examination of witnesses and also would reconsider Sonam’s bail application.
The Supreme Court bench asked Sonam’s lawyer to inform the court about his clients decision at the next hearing to be held on July 23, 2026.
