Prominent Filmmaker Dominic Sangma Assaulted In Arunachal Pradesh

Shillong, Sep 17: Noted filmmaker from Meghalaya, Dominic Sangma was allegedly assaulted by two persons in Arunachal Pradesh yesterday evening.

Sangma who heads the Department of Screenwriting at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) Jote campus in Itanagar was on his evening walk along the Jollang-Rakap road near Itanagar when he was attacked.

According to reports, two local youth armed with bamboo sticks were attacking and bullying four FTII students and a security guard at Rakap when Sangma intervened to stop the assault. The two youth then turned on Sangma and assaulted him.

An FIR has been lodged at Balijan Police Station in connection with the incident. The FIR named the two attackers as Techi Nanu and Techi Sanjay, both residents of Rakap.

Sangma is a renowned filmmaker. His movie ‘Rapture’ won the Best Garo Film Award at the 66th National Film Award.
