Shillong, Aug 3: The East Khasi Hills district administration today warned of stringent legal action against individuals or groups involved in today’s petrol bomb attack at the office of Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board (MSPCB) at Lumpyngngad, Shillong.
In a statement issued today, East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, Abhilash Baranwal said that police have registered a criminal case on the incident and launched an intensive investigation to determine the motive behind the attack and apprehend the individualz responsible.
“Any individual or group found to be involved will face stringent legal action in accordance with law. Such incidents undermine public safety and the rule of law and will be dealt swiftly as per law,” Baranwal said.

Appealing to anyone having relevant information or video footage of the incident to contact police, Baranwal assured that the identity of the informant would be kept confidential.
According to police, two masked persons hurled a petrol bomb at the office of the MSPCB today at around 12:10 PM.
The petrol bomb struck the outer wall of the office building “causing slight discolouration to the wall”.
