Shillong, Jun 11: The killing of six Naga men in Manipur has drawn strong condemnation from the North East Students’ Organisation (NESO).
The bodies, found dismembered on June 10, belongeng to Nagas from Leilon Vaiphei village. They were abducted by unknown armed miscreants on May 13.
In a statement issued today, the NESO said the brutality has shocked the entire North East and highlighted the worsening condition in Manipur.
Conveying its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and the people of Konsakhul Naga village, NESO also demanded swift, transparent and impartial investigation into the incident.
It also demanded that all those involved must be identified, arrested and prosecuted without delay, regardless of their background or status.

NESO also stated that for three years it has been calling for peace, dialogue and restoration of normalcy in Manipur and has repeatedly urged the authorities to protect civilians and end the cycle of violence.
“Despite these appeals and the presence of thousands of central security forces in Manipur, the conflict and atrocities continue,” it added.
The students’ body also questioned the Central government over the failure to find and convict those involved in repeated killings, abductions and arsons for the last three years.
It also voiced its concern over allegations of partisan behaviour by central forces. Further, it urged the Central government to take decisive steps to restore public confidence and end the culture of impunity that continues to drive violence in Manipur.
