Shillong, Jul 7: Meghalaya along with twelve other states secured the lowest grade in the Performance Grading Index (PGI) 2.0 for all states and union territories released by the Ministry of Education today.
Meghalaya was placed in Akanshi – 1 Grade. The top Grade was bagged by Chandigarh which was placed in Uttam – 3.
Meghalaya performed badly in all six domains on which the PGI were based on. These domains included Learning Outcomes, Access, Infrastructure & Facilities, Equity, Governance Process, and Teacher Education & Training.
In Learning Outcomes domain, Meghalaya scored only 47.2 whereas Manipur scored 89.7 followed by Arunachal Pradesh (79.6), Assam (79.4), Sikkim (77.8), Tripura (70), Nagaland (68.1) and Mizoram (56.5). The top score was made by Punjab (150.4) followed by Kerala (140.3) and Himachal Pradesh (117.9).

In Access domain, Meghalaya scored only 49.1 whereas Tripura scored 61.5, Sikkim (59.5), Manipur (56.8), Assam (52.1), Mizoram (51.3), and Nagaland (50.3). The top scorer were Kerala and Puducherry which both scored 73.8 followed by Tamil Nadu (72.2) and Andhra Pradesh (70.4).
In Infrastructure and Facilities domain, Meghalaya scored only 77.8 whereas Sikkim got 116.4, Assam (99.5), Nagaland (87.5), Tripura (85.1), Mizoram (82.4), Manipur (78.5) and Arunachal Pradesh (69.3). The highest score was made by Chandigarh (150.1) followed by Delhi (138.2) and Dadra Nagar and Haveli Daman & Diu (136.9).
In Equity domain, Meghalaya got a score of only 208.5 whereas Assam got 231, Sikkim (223.8), Manipur (221.4), Tripura (221.3), Arunachal Pradesh (220.5), Nagaland (218.4) and Mizoram (211.6). Delhi bagged the top score (245.1) followed by Chandigarh (239.8) and Tamil Nadu (236.9).
In Government Processes domain, Meghalaya performed better with a score of 85.6. Assam scored 96.5 followed by Mizoram (82.3), Sikkim (80.9), Nagaland (62.1), Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura (both 61.9), and Manipur (41.4). The highest score was made by Chandigarh (106) followed by Dadra Nagar and Haveli Daman and Diu (102.9).
In Teacher Education & Training domain, Meghalaya got only 57.5 whereas Sikkim scored 67 followed by Mizoram (65.6), Arunachal Pradesh (65.1), Tripura (63.6), Manipur (59.9), Nagaland (57.8) and Assam (56.9). The top score was made by Lakshadweep (96.2) followed by Kerala (92.4) and Delhi (90).
