Shillong, Jun 10: Meghalaya has decided to use Artificial Intelligence technologies to improve agriculture and education in the State.
An agreement to this effect was signed today between officials of the State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (SCSTE) of Meghalaya and Lords Education and Health Society – Wadhwani AI.
Under the collaboration, SCSTE Meghalaya and Wadhwani AI will work together to develop and implement AI-based solutions,initially focusing on agriculture and education.
In the agriculture sector, the partnership will explore AI-enabled tools to provide farmers with timely and localised advisories, strengthen pest and disease surveillance, improve field-based data collection, and support better decision making.

These efforts are expected to enhance agricultural practices and strengthen support systems for farmers across the State.
In the education sector, the collaboration will support the deployment of an AI-powered Oral Reading Fluency (ORF) solution to help assess students’ reading skills and improve learning outcomes.
The AI solution will provide useful insights for teachers, schools, and education administrators to identify learning gaps and support timely intervention.
Both SCSTE Meghalaya and Lords Education and Health Society will explore opportunities to expand the use of AI to other sectors for the benefit of Meghalaya.
