Shillong, Jun 10: The Ministry of Rural Development of the Government of India has released an interim allocation of Rs 1155.09 crore to Meghalaya to boost rural employment and village development under the newly launched Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission – Gramin (GRAM-G).
The interim allocation was announced yesterday by Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan during a meeting with Rural Development ministers from various states of the country through video conferencing.

Meghalaya is among the 26 states that already made budgetary provisions for implementation of GRAM-G.
GRAM-G replaces the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Act (NREGA). It offers 125 days of guaranteed wage employment per rural household. The scheme will be officially rolled out on July 1.
Works under GRAM-G will be selected through the village committee and will be finalised by the State government on the basis of their proposals.
