Shillong, April 23: East Khasi Hills district was recognised as a leading performer in terms of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) linked outcome budgeting, vocational skilling and other monitoring frameworks such as Village Development Index etc.
This was revealed during a workshop held yesterday at State Convention Centre, Shillong where the focus was on data driven governance, outcome-based budgeting and district level convergence.
The workshop was organised by the Planning Department in collaboration with Indo-German Green and Sustainable Development Partnership (GSDP – GIZ).
Commissioner & Secretary of Planning Department, Vijay Kumar said that Meghalaya has expanded the CM Catalytic Fund to improve SDG outcomes, allowing each district in the State to access grants of upto Rs. 1.5 crores to enable targeted interventions.
Secretary of Planning Department, R Nainamalai linked SDG acceleration with a “Developed Meghalaya” vision targeting a 10 billion dollar economy by 2028 and 100 billion dollar economy by 2047.
Nainamalai said that Meghalaya is one of the few states in India implementing an SDG-linked budget to ensure measurable development outcomes.
