Nongpoh, July 10: Civil Society Women’s Organisation (CSWO) Secretary, Christabell Wanniang, today strongly criticized the state government for allegedly failing to address the hardships faced by patients seeking treatment at the government-run Umsning Community Health Centre (CHC).
Her criticism came after she personally witnessed the situation at the health centre, where only one doctor and one nurse were on duty. The two healthcare workers were reportedly handling both emergency services and the Outpatient Department (OPD), forcing patients to wait for hours before receiving medical attention. She said the shortage of manpower has severely affected the functioning of the hospital, particularly as it serves as a crucial healthcare facility for seriously ill patients.
Speaking to the media, CSWO Secretary Christabell Wanniang expressed deep concern and dissatisfaction over the condition and functioning of the Umsning CHC.
