New Delhi, July 13: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has invited proposals from industry associations, organisations and institutions for the conceptualisation, design and execution of industry-led challenges under Create in India Challenge (CIC) – Season 2, a flagship initiative of the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2027.
In a statement issued on Monday, the ministry announced the launch of a unified online portal for the submission of proposals, aimed at ensuring a transparent, competitive and merit-based selection process for both the challenges and their implementing organisations.
The initiative seeks to foster creativity, innovation and skill development among young professionals while strengthening collaboration between the government and the media and entertainment industry.
According to the ministry, more than 50 industry-led challenges are planned under CIC–Season 2, with a strong emphasis on emerging sectors such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Digital and Social Media, Animation, Visual Effects (VFX), AVGC-XR (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, Extended Reality), Online Gaming, E-Sports, Films, Broadcasting, Music and Dance, as well as other technology-driven creative industries.
The ministry said the selected challenges may be eligible for a one-time grant of up to ₹1 crore each, subject to technical and financial evaluation, grassroots outreach, outcome-oriented implementation, capacity-building initiatives and compliance with the terms and conditions laid down in the Invitation for Proposal (IFP).
Eligible entities have been invited to submit their proposals through the dedicated online portal by July 31, 2026.
The ministry said CIC–Season 2 is designed to identify and nurture creative talent, promote structured mentoring, encourage innovation and entrepreneurship, and enhance skills across the media and entertainment ecosystem. The initiative will culminate in the presentation of winning projects at CreatoSphere during WAVES 2027.
The ministry noted that the first edition of the programme successfully implemented 33 industry-led challenges, laying the foundation for a stronger creative ecosystem. Building on that success, the second season aims to expand industry participation, deepen grassroots engagement and create greater opportunities for India’s young creators, in line with the Prime Minister’s vision of “Create in India, Create for the World.”
