Nongpoh, April 18: An emergent meeting on Yogasana sports development and team preparation for the upcoming 39th National Games 2027 was successfully held at the DRDA Hall, Nongpoh, under the aegis of the Ri-Bhoi District Yogasana Sports Association (RBD-YSA).

The meeting brought together Presidents and Secretaries from South Garo Hills, North Garo Hills, West Khasi Hills, East Khasi Hills, and Ri-Bhoi District, reflecting a united effort to strengthen Meghalaya’s Yogasana framework ahead of the National Games.

The session was chaired by Shri Dipankar Nandi, State Secretary of the Meghalaya Yogasana Sports Association (MYSA), in the presence of key dignitaries including Shri Wanborlang Malngiang, President of RBD-YSA; Shri Birju Singh, Secretary of RBD-YSA; Miss Prisilla Shongwan, Vice President of RBD-YSA; along with core members Shri Denys Shabong and Miss Babylon Lyngdoh.

Discussions centered on strategic planning for Yogasana team preparation, talent scouting, and awareness initiatives in view of the 39th National Games, which Meghalaya is set to host in 2027. Participants deliberated on strengthening district-level coordination, identifying emerging talent at an early stage, and promoting Yogasana as a competitive sport across the state.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Dipankar Nandi stressed the need for unity, structured training programmes, and systematic talent identification to ensure strong representation from Meghalaya at the national level. Representatives from various districts also shared their perspectives and reaffirmed their commitment to collaborative efforts for the growth and promotion of Yogasana sports.

The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to work in close coordination towards achieving excellence in Yogasana and making the 39th National Games 2027 a significant milestone for Meghalaya’s sporting landscape.
